I am a private tutor based in London. I graduated from the University of Oxford in 2020 and have been tutoring full-time ever since. I have a range of experience in various exam boards and many of my students have gone on to achieve the highest grades in 11+, GCSE and beyond! I have also helped students on their journey to achieving a place at Oxford, including ELAT and interview preparation.
My sessions predominantly revolve around introducing students to a vast array of literature and helping students to really enjoy what they're exploring, which itself will aid their writing and get them on track to securing the best grades possible. Alongside this, I will help students develop their critical writing and PEA structure - skills which extend beyond English and will aid students in their other subjects and professional lives.
I also hold an extensive knowledge of literary theory, and can provide some information on that, in order to really enhance students' answers and make them stand out. Beyond literature, I also hold experience with teaching English as a second language (ESL); I have helped students from around the world to improve their English language skills, with students' ages ranging from 8-30 years old.
I have a particular love for drama and plays, having involved himself in various productions, including playing Hamlet whilst studying at university. My dissertation also focused on the depictions of mental illness in the plays of Arthur Miller and how those are addressed within their individual sociohistorical contexts. It is this passion for literature beyond my working life that infuses my sessions with both energy and keen critical insight.
Jack has been an outstanding English tutor for my daughter. He has consistently demonstrated an exceptional ability to engage and inspire my daughter in her English studies. His passion for the subject matter is evident in the dynamic and interactive lessons he delivers. He has created a positive and supportive learning environment that has greatly contributed to my daughter's academic growth and confidence.
