Online English Literature and Language Tutor
I am a passionate and experienced English tutor with a strong background in teaching English literature and language within the UK National Curriculum. I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have extensive experience supporting students at KS3, GCSE, and A-Level. My qualifications also include a two-year practical induction in teaching, a 2:1 Honours Degree in Music and a five-month, full-time Subject Knowledge Enhancement Course in English education, equipping me with a deep understanding of curricula and exam-board requirements.
I mainly offer personalised, one-on-one tuition tailored to each student’s unique learning needs. My lessons are structured to build confidence, improve academic performance, and promote a genuine love for English. I create a supportive and engaging learning environment, using a student-centred approach in a modern format. Whether it’s breaking down complex texts, refining essay-writing skills, or preparing for exams, I am dedicated to helping students achieve their educational goals.
With a proven track record of teaching in both mainstream and SEN settings, I bring patience, empathy, and adaptability to every session. I am also DBS-checked and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of my students.
Currently, I am available for online tutoring during weekdays (including evenings) and at limited times on Saturdays. Let’s work together to unlock your potential and achieve success in English!

Beyond teaching, I have a deep passion for lifelong learning and exploring the world through both books and travel. I enjoy reading a wide range of subjects, including philosophy, mythology, history, psychology, science, fiction, non-fiction, and geography. My love for literature extends beyond the classroom, as I constantly seek new ideas and perspectives that enrich my teaching and understanding of the world.
Travel is another major passion of mine—I love immersing myself in different cultures, exploring historical landmarks, and gaining firsthand insights into the stories and traditions that shape societies. Whether through books or real-world experiences, I am always eager to discover, share knowledge with, and learn from those around me.
Michael is the highest level tutoring we have encountered and we have several excellent tutors. Michael is highly respectful and knowledgeable. We can not praise him highly enough in his past two years of teaching our children aged 14 years and 16 years.
"Michael's classes are both fun and structured. He puts effort into preparing the lessons and giving me notes to study after. He's really helping me prepare and achieve my goal for my exam. He's also very kind and friendly. Thanks, Michael!" :)
