Hello, thank you for visiting my profile - my name is Priyanka and I am a full time Mathematics tutor! As a young adult, I was particularly interested in the importance of the applications of Mathematics to the real world which really motivated me to study the subject further. Graduating with a 1st class honours Mathematics degree a few years ago broadened my interest and developed my understanding of the subject. Mathematics has advanced my problem solving skills and my ability to explain concepts thoroughly, with attention to detail - vital skills for a tutor. Having worked with students for 8 years now, as well as my time working as a an Assistant and Centre Director for a London based education centre, I have gained a lot of exposure to the tutoring world. Therefore, I have plenty of experience working with families and tutoring mentees of all ages (including adult learners) and backgrounds: - Helping build confidence - Guidance with independent entrance exams and 11+/13+/16+ admissions in Maths, English, Verbal and Non Verbal reasoning with successful cases including the following schools: St Helen's Independent school, Royal Russell Independent School, Roedean Boarding School and Heckmonwide Grammar School. - GCSE and iGCSE Maths / Further Maths / Statistics preparation with various exam boards - Extra KS2-3 curriculum support post Covid! - I can also support with Functional Skills, National 4/5 I’m passionate about the subject I teach and love working with students. I understand the stress that comes with school so my aim is to help students feel prepared along their journey through interactive and engaging lessons.

I enjoy going for long walks when I'm not teaching, travelling and trying new food as well as comedy!
Priyanka has a professional outlook, she is very punctual and each lesson is catered to the students needs.
She is up to date with changes in the syllabus and that is reflected in her teaching. She is able to manage students of varying knowledge base and succeeds in achieving results is a testament to her teaching skills.
Priyanka is approachable to both students and parents. She has always helped me understand how my child was progressing and how we could help her achieve her targets.
Excellent. Priyanka communicates in a highly professional manner with both students and their parents. She answers any query in a clear and polite manner. She is always punctual and provides clear feedback.
Excellent. Priyanka diligently covered all course material for KS2, 11+ and KS3 Mathematics. She taught all topics in an age appropriate manner. She always ensures the student has a complete understanding of the topic, before moving to another topic.
Priyanka has taught my child KS2 Mathematics and English from Year 3 to Year 6. Her teaching helped improve my child's performance at school. Priyanka taught my child Mathematics and Non- Verbal Reasoning for the 11+ entrance exams. She explained complex questions in an age appropriate way. She helped develop exam skills to tackle higher level questions (which were not taught at school). Priyanka helped foster an understanding of Mathematics, which enabled my child to complete higher level work independently. Priyanka continued to teach my child KS3 Mathematics. She diligently identified areas where my child needs more practice, and has provided the necessary teaching to cover those topics. Due to her teaching my child feels confident with Mathematics.
My son was struggling with every aspect of school post covid. He had dropped behind in every aspect of his studies and decided that he just didn't have any ability. He has a January maths GCSE to sit and was predicted a 5 but was a 4/5 border line at best. We were allocated Priyanka and I couldn't have been more delighted. Not only did she help him achieve a 6 but he's had a complete turn around about his capability and ability to catch up and do this. Priyanka was a great teacher and incredibly patient. A huge thank you to Priyanka.
Priyanka has really helped Milla to feel more prepared and calmer about this years GCSES. She has worked methodically through the GCSE content whilst focusing on the areas Milla struggles with most. Priyanka has made the experience positive and worthwhile and Milla has seen the benefit herself without having to be cajoled into doing extra tuition - no mean feat for someone who really doesn’t enjoy maths! Thank you for all your help.
Just to say that my son was thrilled to get a 7 in his GCSE maths. This was a grade that at the start of tutoring seemed impossible! But Priyanka’s steady, calm, clear teaching enabled him to achieve success in his GCSE but also gave him the confidence to pursue A Level maths! This was an outcome we never dreamed of. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Priyanka. Thank you!
Priyanka is a great tutor and I really enjoy my lessons with her! She describes solutions and the question in general so it is easy to understand. I like how Priyanka never gives you the answer until you work it out yourself, only helps you if you don't understand part of it.
I love having lessons with Priyanka! She is really nice and if I don't understand something during our session, she always makes it fun while she explains the question to me! She gives great explanations to questions so that I understand them and she gives me hints on how to solve them.
Brilliant tutor. Priyanka got to know my son and how he worked to make sure her style suited him. She was instrumental in getting my son admitted to the school we wanted. Thank you! Our son continues to work with Priyanka.
Can I choose a 6th star? Priyanka is a dream come true as a teacher. She is thoroughly prepared, thoughtful, confident, kind, prompt and an impeccable communicator. Her lessons pulled my children up to a math level that our school did not anticipate for them. She tailored her teaching to their particular needs and went above and beyond to provide material and instruction to propel them to higher achievement. It is clear that Priyanka approaches all that she does with professionalism and diligence. She is also very respectful to parents which goes a very long way. Thank you so much, Priyanka!
Sometimes I find students can be disengaged with Maths if they are not doing well in the subject or they don’t enjoy the subject. I always try and find out about student’s hobbies and interests and try and relate topics and questions back to them wherever possible. Topic example: Differentiation, displacement of a particle. One of my students loves to watch and play football so I amend this scenario to the trajectory of a ball rather than the movement of a particle. I relate it back to how far the ball can be kicked across the pitch and the shape of the curve when the ball is kicked. I find that this allows the students to be more enthusiastic about the topic and their learning, they are more engaged and have a better understanding of the concept. It makes the lessons more interactive and students feel more confident tackling questions, they find it less daunting and it hints to the relevance of Maths in everyday life.
I usually begin my lessons with an overview quiz based on the students' academic level. I let the students know that I am there to fully support them throughout the lesson and that it is ok if they come across any challenges as this process allows me to identify strengths and areas that we can work on together. I believe it is important to begin with basic concepts, as these form the foundations of Mathematics and help students transition to more challenging topics through scaffolded problem-solving activities. It also helps build their understanding and confidence. Practice is also key to becoming confident with Mathematics, so together, we will work through various topics until you can ace questions with confidence, independently. I try and incorporate exam style questions into my lessons so students can consolidate their learning and put their knowledge into practice. We'll also review progress through regular quizzes. I think it’s important that the student can also see how they have progressed over time to help with their confidence too!
