My name is Zaber and I am a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering student at Swansea University. I have been an A level and GCSE physics and maths tutor for the last 5 years. I have had more than 1200+ sessions, and 50+ students who have gone on to achieve 8s and 9s in this subject. Moreover, I have gotten A*, A*, A*, A in the subjects Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Economics respectively, in my A levels.
I believe tutoring is very a rewarding job, because it allows you to impact a persons life positively to become the best version of themselves. It is also because you can see the increase in your pupils self confidence not only in an academic regard but in life as well. It brings people out of their shell which is really important to do at a young age as it helps them better understand who they are, and who they want to be which is really important to think about at that age. Moreover, it also allows you to connect with people on a deeper level which is something I value highly in life.
I am a visual learner myself, so I use loads of images and videos to make my students understand theoretical concepts in both maths and physics. I also make the class very engaging by asking my students about their hobbies and seeing if our hobbies match and talking about it, which helps build a rapport and makes the classes more engaging. I also show them where to use these in real life as well, which makes the sessions more fun and increases their curiosity for it.
As a tutor at GoStudent I was responsible for:
- Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to students in need of academic support
- Develop personalised lesson plans based on the individual needs and learning styles of each student
- To provide personalised timelines and monthly progress reports to students and parents in accordance to our company framework
- Assist students with homework assignments and test preparation
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to parents or guardians
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to engage and motivate students
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students with special education needs

Learning Support Assistant
Nov 2022 - Feb 2023|United Kingdom
As a Support Worker at Dan Y Coed, I played a crucial role in the lives of our young people, supporting their daily activities, educational needs, and personal development. I worked closely with a magnificent team including teachers, therapists and other support workers to create a nurturing and inclusive environment.
I've had experience working as a mechanical engineering intern at Insite technical services. Throughout this placement at this consultancy company, I have learned loads of skills such as team management, organisational, planning, teamwork, project management, leadership, research and technical skills. These technical abilities include learning new software such as AutoCAD E3D, Navisworks, Revit, Plant 3D and more. This placement opportunity has given me the chance to use my theoretical knowledge in practical terms which further accentuated my curiosity into engineering as well and also provided me a way to get some practical industry level experience.
On my free time, I like to go to the gym, play and watch football, go on hikes, watch anime, and listen to tons of music. I also spend time doing volunteering work going to different schools as a STEM ambassador to increase STEM outreach in schools too.
I am writing to recommend Zaber Mamun. I have been his supervisor while he was working as a mechanical engineering intern at Insite technical services. During this time, I have consistently observed his strong passion, taking his interest beyond the standard curriculum with multiple independent projects, all while maintaining a first-class standard in his degree.
Zaber Mamun demonstrates diligence, creativity, solid technical skills, and his passion for Engineering. He has genuine enthusiasm, which emanates onto his peers.
I have had a student named Kit that I have taught since the last 1.5 years. when he first came to be tutored by me, he was a bit shy and had a deep love for Fulham - which he still does. He was working with a grade of 2 in GCSE Maths and he was really concerned about how this would reflect in his GCSE grades.
We bonded over football, as he went to watch Fulham matches every week and we would talk about if he enjoyed those matches, who he went with and how many goals they conceded/gave. This helped us build a rapport with each other as I am quite passionate about football myself.
He enjoyed the way I tutored too, as I was not too strict on him and he always listened because I was very patient with him, spoke in a friendly tone and would always urge him to ask questions. He got more enthusiastic in the subject as well as he started to get better grades in school, not only in Maths but other subjects too.
At the moment he is predicted a 9 in his GCSE maths grades and he will be sitting for exams in the 2025 May/June examinations. He says he can't still believe it that he has come a long way and thanks me a lot for it, even though most of it was his own credibility, hard work and grit.
